ReplyDeleteI think the Tueni line translates better as : "Beirut is the last sanctuary in the East/Where mankind can still dress itself in light."
l'homme is not 'a' man....
The poem can be translated to Filipino in this way: "Beirut ang pangwakas na santuwaryo ng Silangan/na makapagsusuot ng liwanag ang sangkatauhan."
